It is a rarity to see a offensive barrage eclipsing 40 points from a single player in a high school basketball game. Tonight, South Medford (13-5 overall, 6-0 league) saw one of those special performances Tuesday night at South Eugene (9-9 overall, 2-4 league).

At South Eugene, Sophomore standout Boden Howell erupted for a career-high 40 points in a 89-74 win over SWC opponent South Eugene.

“It was special.” Said South Medford head coach James Wightman. “Not many times do you get to witness a 40 point game, not many people have done that at South. One for the ages tonight for sure.”

Going 17-27 from the floor, Boden put on a very efficient performance. One could argue it was one of the best ever in a South Medford uniform. Boden pulled down 9 boards to go with his career-high 40 points.

Fellow backcourt teammate Jackson Weiland scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the Panthers. Senior wing Ty Henry chipped in 8 and Sophomore forward Tobias Akpan had 10 rebounds.

South Medford now stands in a comfortable 1st place position within the SWC holding a 2 game advantage over any other team.

The Panthers next play West Salem Wednesday night Vs #11 ranked West Salem at Dennis Murphy court.
