ISPIKE 16u Boys Volleyball Team Wins Championship

Final scores of championship match: 25-18, 21-25, 15-12

In Salem, Oregon on February 4th, the only boys volleyball team, in its second year, south of Corvallis won the championship match of the NW Boys Tour, hosted by CEVA, at the 16u level.  The team won their pool in the morning, only dropping 1 set. In bracket play, the iSPIKE boys swept in the quarter and semifinals. In the championship match against Ajax 16-1 Gold, iSPIKE took the first set behind a strong offense led by Kent David and Noah Harrington who were set up by Calvin McGary. In the second set, Ajax came back with consistent serving and a solid defense. With iSPIKE down, John Bare came in off the bench and provided crucial serving to bring the team back into the set, but it was not enough. In the third set, it was a back and forth battle with the teams tying at 10-10. With some solid passing, led by libero Hugo Garcia, and smart plays, iSPIKE boys won the third set.  Seth Moore also contributed to the strong passing in the championship match.
