The No. 3-ranked Southern Oregon women’s wrestling team completed its first-ever undefeated dual season with a 26-18 takedown of No. 8 Providence (Mont.) on Sunday afternoon at Bob Riehm Arena.

The Raiders bumped their record to 8-0 while deploying a senior-heavy lineup that excluded a few of their highest-ranked individuals. Back-to-back pins for 123-pounder Glory Konecny and 130-pounder Jordynn Robson swung the score, and back-to-back wins for 170-pounder Joye Levendusky and 191-pounder Karrah Smith finished the job.

Providence got technical falls from top-ranked wrestlers Ira Navarro (101) and Ashley Gooman (116) – broken up by a 6-5 decision for SOU’s Natalie Reyna, ranked No. 3 at 109, over No. 3 Erin Hikiji, wrestling up a weight class – to take an early 9-4 lead.

Konecny, ranked No. 10, tied the score with a second-round pin of No. 15 Alicia Frank. The Raiders then took their first lead at 14-9 when Robson upset No. 19 Gabriella Parini, winning by fall 28 seconds before the end of the second period.

Argos No. 4-ranked 136-pounder Paige Respicio cut into the advantage with a technical fall, but SOU’s No. 2 143-pounder Emily Se padded it again by pinning No. 7 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp in the first period. The fall was her 12th of the season.

Sadie Antoque accounted for Providence’s last win with a tech at 155. Levendusky, ranked No. 2 at 170, responded with an 11-0 shutout of Joji Miner-Ho, and No. 14 Smith took a 7-1 decision from No. 17 Lexi Tupuola to end the day.

The Raiders are off until the Cascade Conference Championships, set for Feb. 26 in La Grande. Their qualifiers will then travel to Jamestown, N.D., for the NAIA Championships on March 10-11.

The Argos finished their dual season at 6-2.
