St. Mary’s 63
Sutherlin 34
Looking to bounce back from a tough conference loss earlier in the week, the St. Mary’s Crusaders were laser focused entering Friday night’s contest at the Sutherlin Bulldogs’ home court. Jayden Foster easily won the opening tip, but St. Mary’s quickly turned the ball over and Sutherlin drew first blood with guard Austin Quamme hitting a quick three. This would prove to be Sutherlin’s last lead of the contest, as the Crusaders got hot quick, led by three first quarter three pointers from senior guard Tyson Delplanche. The dominance continued through the rest of the half, with St. Mary’s outplaying the Bulldogs on both ends of the court. The half ended with the Crusaders in the lead, 36-22.
Coming out at half, St. Mary’s installed a fast 1-2-2 press, creating multiple turnovers and completely throwing off the Bulldog attack, pushing their lead to 51-29 by the end of the third quarter. Continuing to push, St. Mary’s saw a balanced offensive attack, as every player who dressed out was able to see significant court time. The game ended with St. Mary’s on top 63-34.
