Heading into yet another game of huge importance in Far West League play, St. Mary’s was hoping to string together back to back conference wins on Saturday. A victory against the third ranked South Umpqua Lancers would put the Crusaders in a much more comfortable spot in the league table before they take a break from conference play in their next contest against Henley High School.

It was a tough league matchup, with neither team ever looking completely dominant. South Umpqua held a slim lead most of the contest but never could seem to completely pull away. The Lancers managed to stay composed, playing with discipline and patience, weathering the full court pressure St. Mary’s threw at them most of the 3rd quarter. The Crusaders managed to cut the lead to 3 points early in the final quarter, but their opponents buckled down and were able able to slow the tempo and find open shots to ultimately put the game away. The Lancers finished the game up by nine, with a 72-63 point win.

St. Mary’s was lead by seniors Noah Friesen with twenty one points and Kayden Walker with seventeen. They also got ten points off the bench from Christopher Kranenburg.
