For the ninth time in 10 seasons, the Southern Oregon women’s basketball team hit the 20-win mark Saturday night with an 80-53 defeat of Walla Walla (Wash.) in a Cascade Conference matchup at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Junior forward Kami Walk starred with a season-high 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go with 10 rebounds, notching her fifth double-double in the last three weeks. Brianna Phiakhamngon scored 19, and Danasia Allison and Kalei Iwami added 10 apiece.
The Raiders (20-6 overall, 16-4 CCC) have clinched no worse than a share of third place in the standings entering the last two games of the regular season. They can lock up the No. 3 seed outright – and a home date for the CCC Tournament quarterfinals on Feb. 22 – with a win at Corban on Friday or Bushnell next Saturday.
They outscored the Wolves (5-18, 4-16) 48-26 in the second half to run away with a series sweep and their 15th victory in as many all-time matchups. Walk scored 15 after halftime, and her efficient night helped SOU to a 51-percent clip from the field – the team’s second-highest of the season.
Phiakhamngon shot 8-of-17 from the field and 2-of-3 from downtown. The senior point guard averaged 21 points on the weekend.
Clara Robbins contributed 10 points, two blocked shots and two steals. It was her eighth double-figure rebounding total of the season.
Jaliyah Casem and Chariah Daniels logged 17 points apiece for WWU.
